We are pleased to confirm funding support from New Zealand Oil & Gas, as recommended by the New Zealand Oil & Gas Southern Community Panel. The Panel provides a voice for the southern community to give feedback to New Zealand Oil & Gas on their activities in our region. The Panel and the company collaborate to identify local projects to support, and both see the huge benefits of helping Trusts like ours leverage and expand existing schemes that deliver insulation to Dunedin and Otago households.
“Poor home insulation has significant health, social, energy savings and economic impacts for many Kiwi households. It remains a big social issue for the country. We’re very pleased to support Cosy Homes to coordinate home insulation schemes and be part of the solution.”
- New Zealand Oil & Gas CEO Andy Knight

The Otago Community Trust is a philanthropic organisation which applies its Trust funds for charitable and other purposes which are of benefit to the community. Otago Community Trust has invested over $1.0 million since 2013 into its Warm Homes through the Funding for Change Initiative, a partnership programme with Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA). In working with local insulation companies Smart Energy Solutions and Technobond, over 1500 houses in Dunedin and across Otago have been insulated.
Chief Executive Barbara Bridger highlights that there are very good synergies between what the Cosy Homes Charitable Trust is aiming to achieve and the Warm Homes programme the Otago Community Trust already champions.
“It is often quoted that $1 spent on insulation saves $5 in health savings to families, this relates to reduced medical bills, less time away from work due to ill children. Therefore, we passionately believe in helping people across Otago improve the insulation and heating of their homes.” - Chief Executive Barbara Bridger
